Rustic Pet Furniture- Raised Dog Feeder

Rustic Pet Furniture are new to the dog bowl market. They're a small family run business based in South Yorkshire. After searching unsuccessfully for that perfect dog bowl, they decided they could do better.

Their wooden dog bowl stand is available in two designs and three gorgeous colours.

The question is though, is it any good ? Spoiler : yes, but for the long answer continue reading.

Raised Dog Bowl Review : Design

Their dog bowl stand looks pretty stylish – it certainly has cleaner lines and is more modern looking than lots of other alternative elevated dog bowls on the market.

The solid wooden base is available in a choice of three muted tones - white, dove grey and antique cream which will blend in with most kitchen colour schemes.

I'd quite happily leave this out in my kitchen as it looks classy and the natural, understated colours matched our kitchen perfectly.

Unlike some wooden dog bowl stands, this one is machine cut and hand assembled in the UK. This ensures a quality clean cut finish and at the same time, no unsightly screws or bolts on show.

What's more, the oak varnished top has machine cut slots which perfectly fit the two 6 inch stainless steel dog bowls it arrives with. We are happy to confirm that the bowls do not move, rattle or spill once slotted into place.

Rustic Pet Furniture have three different size options to suit different breeds and sizes of dog

Dimensions :

Small - 10.8cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 22 cm (D)

Medium - 17.8cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 22 cm (D)

Large - 26.8cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 22 cm (D)

If you're unsure of which height to choose for your four-legged friend, fear not, their website has a helpful size guide.

Raised Dog Bowl Review : Durability

Another feature you will want to take into account, is the durability of your dog bowl. Well, we've been dishing up our dog's dinner for a few days now to find out how durable the Rustic Pet Furniture dog bowl really is.

They have obviously put considerable thought into how their dog bowl stand functions in the home not just how good it looks.

Each one is assembled using quality responsibly sourced timber, the bases are primed and painted using durable high performance furniture paints.

Most importantly though, the top is varnished in a medium oak to create a waterproof surface.

Ultimately, this is essential when dealing with a combination of dogs, water and food on a daily basis.

Whilst the stainless steel bowls are removable and easy to clean by hand or dishwasher, the solid unit is heavy enough to stay firmly in one place and not slide around your kitchen floor.

In our opinion, we would definitely recommend the small size as a perfect starter set of dog bowls for puppies as they are notorious for making a mess at meal times !

Raised Dog Bowl Review : Verdict

It can be difficult to find dog bowls which both function well and are stylish at the same time.

Double bowl dog feeding station

Combining modern aesthetics with practical design, the Rustic Pet Furniture's dog bowl stand can proudly be on display in your kitchen, instead of being tucked away.

Its design is equally matched by its beautiful quality. The feeder structure is solid and sturdy, yet lightweight and portable for easy moving – the perfect combination!

If you are looking for a high quality dog feeding station which will stand everything your four-legged friend can throw at it whilst looking stylish in your home, then take a look at Rustic Pet Furniture.

The only flaw in the design we could see is that it's not height adjustable. However, the handy sizing guide on their website alongside the choice of three different size options, means this is certainly only a minor issue.

The truth is that this feeding station is nicely designed and well built.

FAQ's

Why choose a raised dog bowl ?

Let's look at why you might choose a raised dog bowl over other types of dog bowl.

Improved Posture

The idea behind a raised dog bowl is that it brings the food closer to your dog’s mouth, meaning your four-legged friend doesn’t need to bend down so far. In turn this can help with their posture and eliminates any potential neck pain while they’re eating.

Dogs suffering with joint issues or arthritis can experience enormous relief from raised dog bowls as they can find putting their head to the ground difficult.

Reduced Mess

Another widely publicised benefit is the reduced mess at mealtimes as the bowl is more secured so less likely to move around (which can only be a good thing!)

Better Hygiene

If, like Freddie you have a raw diet, a feeding station keeps the raw meat contained and as the bowl is more secured it's less likely to move around.

Why choose stainless steel bowls ?

Stainless steel dog bowls are hard-wearing and long-lasting so they're ideal for holding your dog's food and water. They won't break if dropped and are chew-proof, unlike plastic bowls.

They are also dishwasher safe (big plus) and don't hold odours, making them one of the most hygienic options.

Are raised dog bowls suitable for all dogs?

Studies indicates that raised dog bowls could increase the risk of bloat amongst large breed and giant breed dogs. So we recommend that you check with your Vet before buying an elevated dog bowl.
